Action Needed: DC Fishcrats Target Maine Lobster Industry for Extinction!

September 3, 2021 –

It’s not like Mainers don’t have enough woke tyrants to deal with right in our own backyards.

As you may have seen reported, Creepy Uncle Joe Biden and his administration have set their sights on Maine’s fishing industry – and our hardworking lobstermen in particular.

Right now, Maine’s lobstermen and other fishermen need you to be their voice!

Before I break the bad news to you, please consider making a gift today, to Maine First Project of $10, $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford. Your contribution will be put to work fighting against policies that endanger Maine’s traditional fishing, farming, and forestry industries – the lifeblood of the Maine economy.

Biden’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is banning lobster fishing in 950 square miles of the Gulf of Maine along the midcoast. This is all supposed to be an effort to save Right Whales from extinction.

But don’t worry lobstermen, the ban is only during peak season for off-shore trapping.

At least 120 lobster crews will be put out of business or displaced.

Federal officials estimate lobstermen will lose 5%-10% of their profits. I predict, if fully implemented, that estimate will prove to be low-ball.

Environmentalists point out that lobster boats can switch to ropeless traps powered by smartphones. “Hey Boomer, join the 21st century,” they bark.

OK.

Maine lobstermen can have 800 lobster traps in the water at one time. Ropeless traps – which are still being tested, and some reports show a 20% failure rate – cost roughly $2,500.

I’ll do the math for you — that’s $2 million worth of new traps!

These rules will only serve to make Maine’s fishing industry the next endangered species. And this is just Phase 1 of a 10-year plan, with more business-busting, job-killing regulations on the way.

And here’s the kicker – are you ready for this?

Right Whales aren’t dying because of Maine lobstermen!

In fact, there hasn’t been a single incident of a Right Whale getting caught in a Maine line in the past five years!

I’ll do you one better.

The last known entanglement in Maine waters was in 2004! And that whale survived!

That’s why I’m urging you to call NOAA today and plead the case for Maine lobstermen. These Mainers make an honest living doing dangerous work that undergirds the local economies from Kittery to Lubec.

Your action can make a difference in this fight. Please take a few minutes, TODAY, and make a single phone call:

  • NOAA Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office – (978) 281-9300

Or, if you prefer, you can send them a polite, to the point e-mail:

And after your call or email, please consider making an investment in Maine’s future by contributing $10, $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford to Maine First Project. Since our founding, MFP has been an advocate for Maine’s commercial fishing industry and the men and women who do this dangerous work. Help us help them push back against the fishcrats in DC who don’t have a clue about what great stewards of the environment our fishermen and women are.

Over the decades, it’s been these industry professionals who’ve implemented change after change to ensure the sustainability of this valuable fishery.

They’re not harming the Right Whale!

But that’s not stopping the traitorous Biden administration and the enviro-nuts who voted for this empty shell of a corrupt career politician from coming after Maine lobstermen.

The fact is, environmental groups have said they don’t think the NOAA regs go far enough. And they’re pushing for even tighter restrictions.

That’s why it’s so important we make our voices heard. Contact NOAA today and let them know Maine’s fishing industry isn’t hurting the Right Whale – but the NOAA regulations ARE hurting the dedicated men and women working the Maine waters!

We KNOW we can’t count on the swamp Queen of the Kennebec, Gov. Janet Mills to stand up to creepy uncle Joe Biden. So, you and I are going to have to take on this fight on behalf of Maine.

Thank you so much for being in this fight with me. Together, we will protect Maine’s traditional fishing, farming, and forestry industries!

Sincerely,

Hon. Lawrence Lockman, R-Bradley
Maine House of Representatives, 2012-2020

P.S.

When President Joe Biden isn’t vacationing during a national emergency – he sometimes remembers he’s the leader of the free world.

And now his administration is teaming up with enviro-nuts to endanger Maine’s fishing and lobster industries – all because back in 2004 one Right Whale was entangled in a line…and survived.

You can help save Maine’s hardworking lobstermen from becoming the next endangered species! Please call or e-mail NOAA today and politely explain to them the importance of fishing and lobstering in Maine.
