Basic Training in Cultural Warfare & Confrontational Politics

Just how deep is the deep state in Maine?

In a word, it’s now extremely deep as we near the end of Gov. Janet Millstone’s ghastly two-term reign of error.

The good news is that after more than half a century of one-party control of state government — with the exception of a brief hiatus during Paul LePage’s first term as Governor — it appears that Maine voters are ready to throw off the shackles.

The MAGA wave was evident just below the surface last November, even in deep-blue Maine, when the Democrat majority in the Maine House of Representatives was whittled down to a razor-thin three-seat advantage. A shift of fewer than 60 votes from D to R in the three closest House races would have given the GOP the majority and the speakership for the first time since the Tea Party wave 15 years ago.

Don’t get me wrong.

Maine First Project is not a partisan organization. We have never shied away from holding Republican legislators’ feet to the fire on issues ranging from the state budget to illegal immigration to educational malpractice.

If that makes sense to you, consider joining with like-minded Mainers next month for basic training in the art and science of confrontational politics.

Maine First Project will host another of our free Activist Training sessions on Saturday, November 8th in Brewer from 9 am to noon. This is an invitation-only event, so let me know if you’re interested.

We will be joined by two warriors who will share their experiences on the legislative and school board battlefields.

Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Katrina Smith of Palermo is serving her second term in the Maine House of Representatives, where she has distinguished herself as an articulate advocate for sanity and common sense — both in short supply at the Statehouse. She will brief us on the scandalous “freebies for foreigners” policies enacted in recent years, as well as the prospects for flipping House seats next year.

We will also be joined by Carla Jung of Franklin, who was elected to the RSU 24 school board earlier this year. She will lead a discussion of strategy and tactics for repealing the hideous “transgender” policies in many districts that force girls to share toilet and shower facilities with mentally ill male students. Carla led the successful battle to repeal RSU 24’s open-door gender-bender policy earlier this month.

We have set aside plenty of time for Q&A with Carla and Katrina.

Let me know if you’re interested in attending this invitation-only event.

Best Regards,
