The scandalous transformation of Maine’s K-12 government-run schools into woke indoctrination camps is finally moving to center stage in the midterm election cycle.
It’s about time!
At an Augusta press conference yesterday, former Gov. Paul LePage called out Gov. Janet Mills for her extreme woke agenda, pushing radical transgender ideology on students as young as 5 years.
You may recall the government-funded video posted on the Maine Department of Education (MDOE) website, targeting kindergartners with the message that sometimes the doctor makes a mistake when he tells parents whether their newborn baby is a boy or a girl.
In early May of this year — after Maine First Project blew the whistle on this dangerous and demented lesson — MDOE pulled the video. But there’s plenty more gender-bender propaganda on the Department’s site, and in classrooms across Maine.
Thanks to the support and encouragement of Maine First patriots like you, our team at Maine First Project has been on the cutting edge of the grassroots campaign to clean up the mess progressives have made of public education.
You can help ensure that we have the resources to continue leading this campaign well beyond the current election cycle. Whether it’s $10, $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford, your gift to Maine First Project is an investment in restoring sanity in the classroom.
One of the parents who introduced LePage at the Augusta press conference was Alicia Lawson, a mother of five from Winthrop. Her 11-year-old daughter was exposed to posters hung in middle-school hallways by the “Civil Rights Teams” of woke students under the direct supervision and control of Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey.
Frey’s posters purport to instruct minor children about various and sundry “sexual orientations.” But as Alicia Lawson noted, “heterosexuality” is not among them.
Isn’t that special?
Is it any wonder parents are showing up at school board meetings to demand an end to the ceaseless hyper-sexualization of their children?
Get a load of this woke rubbish that’s been dumped into hundreds of Maine’s K-12 government-run schools by the AG’s office.
And who do you suppose blew the whistle on the AG’s CRT propaganda and the transgender kindergartner video? That would be our Director of Special Projects, Shawn McBreairty of Hampden, who successfully sued his local school district for banning him from setting foot on campus.
And we haven’t even mentioned the utter failure of these schools to teach basic academic skills. Over the past 15 years, assessment scores have flatlined, with fewer than 40% of Maine students performing at grade level in math and reading.
Dumbing down and indoctrination…it’s a hideous combination.
Paul LePage understands that the only way to clean this mess up is to embrace Educational Freedom.
Force government-run schools to compete in the education marketplace. His proposed voucher program would allow parents to take their shares of state education funding and use those funds to send their children to private or religious schools. During the 2021-2022 school year, Maine taxpayers ponied up $18,000 per student across the state.
“I firmly believe the money that is put in by the state of Maine should follow the student. If you brought competition to our school systems, they would get better real quick.”
Amen to that!
Let parents choose whether home-schooling or private schooling or a religious school is best for their kids. The de facto monopoly in place now, that forces parents to pay twice for education if they choose to opt out of the indoctrination camps, is crashing and burning before our eyes.
Predictably, the swamp critters howled at the prospect of having to offer something parents want to buy. The critters like the status quo just fine, with funding for K-12 public schools going up by tens and hundreds of millions of dollars a year, while enrollment is in a free fall.
Teachers’ union boss Grace Leavitt, hyper-partisan Democrat hack Drew Gattine, non-profit profiteer Steve Bailey, and smug Leftist liar Sen. Mattie Daughtry of Brunswick all lamented the prospect of having their bloated monopoly subjected to competition.
Let them try to defend the indefensible. This will be fun to watch.
Your generous gift TODAY, whether it’s $10, $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford, will enable our team to reach and mobilize more Mainers to join us on the frontlines in this battle, and stay on offense.
With just seven weeks till Election Day, let’s maintain maximum pressure on candidates from the top to the bottom of the ballot: make Educational Freedom a central issue in your campaign!
We owe it to the next generation of Mainers to leave them a state at least as good as the one we have known: Maine, The Way Life Should Be.
Best Regards,
Hon. Lawrence Lockman
Maine House of Representatives, 2012-2022
Co-founder & President
Maine First Project
PS It’s been a long time coming, but it sure looks like Educational Freedom will be on the ballot in November.
Maine First Project was exposing the wokeness of Maine’s dysfunctional K-12 monopoly three and a half years ago, long before most people had even heard the phrase, “critical race theory.”
We are beginning to see the fruits of the seeds we planted in Augusta in 2019.
Will you chip in TODAY, with $10, $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford, so we can push this campaign for Educational Freedom and Educational Excellence to the next level?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
