Momentum Shift Evident in Maine’s Culture War Arenas

From the frontlines of Maine’s escalating culture wars, I have both good news and bad news to report. Happily, even the bad news has a distinct silver lining.

Bad news first:

To nobody’s surprise, this week the Democrat majorities in the Maine House and Senate passed and sent to Gov. Millstone’s desk a hideous open-borders bill that will make Maine an even bigger magnet for violent criminal aliens, gang-bangers, and leeches from around the world. Joining the Democrats was Republican Sen. Rick Bennett of Oxford.

Welcome to the new Confederacy of Rebel States that defy the federal government’s exclusive jurisdiction over immigration.

Here are the details:

The silver lining I referred to is the fact that illegal immigration is a wedge issue for next year’s midterm elections. In most legislative districts across Maine, incumbent legislators running for re-election will be highly vulnerable to challengers who make this a central issue of their campaigns.

It’s up to you and me to insist that GOP challengers go on offense in those races. No excuses.

Another wedge issue in the culture war is the Left’s ceaseless campaign to implant gender-bender madness in K-12 classrooms and locker rooms. Allowing boys to compete against girls in athletic events, andΒ forcing girls toΒ share toilet and shower facilities with these mentally ill boys is criminally insane. But these are the hills on which Leftists are willing to die in the 2026 midterms.

The momentum on this issue has shifted dramatically over the past few months, with several school districts moving to restore some measure of sanity and biological reality in Maine’s government-run K-12 schools.

The most recent pushback took place last week in the Androscoggin County town of Turner (MSAD 52, which also includes Greene and Leeds). With a big assist from Maine First Project, the school board voted to direct the policy committee to draft policies in alignment with Title IX’s clear prohibition on males competing in female sporting events. We expect those policy amendments to come before the MSAD 52 school board in the fall.

Our team at Maine First Project provided board members with an opinion from Maine First Project’s legal counsel affirming that the Supremacy Clause of the US Constitution prevails over Maine state statutes that purport to allow males to compete in girls’ sports, and relieve themselves in the girls’ restrooms.

Before the vote, board members reviewed the opinion in executive session, as well as contrary opinions from the notorious Portland-based Drummond Woodsum law firm, and Lewiston-based Brann & Isaacson.

Enormous credit goes to board member Ashley Michaud of Turner for making the Title IX motion, and to board member Anthony Shostak of Greene for his persistence during the debate.

We’ve come a long way in the past couple of years, that’s for sure.

It’s been two and a half years since Maine First Project entered the K-12 fray with a take-no-prisoners recall campaign in the Oxford Hills school district, taking out two board members who embraced the Transgender Supremacy cult.

The momentum shift since then is undeniable, as we continue to flip school-board seats across the state, while Drummond Woodsum bleeds clients and credibility in the K-12 arena.

Stay tuned. We have not yet begun to fight.
