This is Shawn McBreairty, Director of Special Projects for Maine’s most aggressive conservative non-profit, Maine First Project.
Based on what I’ve learned over the past two years, here’s my advice for Mainers with kids in public school:
Pull them out now!
It’s biblically bad inside Maine’s K-12 government-run schools. Your child’s only hope is for you to make another plan for their education and do so quickly!
Maine First Project, through our Forgotten Parents Initiative, has worked with students, parents, and taxpayers across the state to identify Critical Race Theory Praxis and more recently the Hyper-Sexualization of minors and Social Emotional Learning.
It all falls under Critical Pedagogy.
Maine doesn’t have school choice. The large majority of our property taxes go to local school districts, like RSU 22, in Hampden, ME — where I went to school and the town I moved back to. They are failing in the very basics of education.
62% of Hampden Academy High School students are BELOW, or WELL BELOW the State guidelines in math, based on the last Maine Department of Education (MDOE) Assessment in 2018/19. That was BEFORE the plandemic of COVID political theater — as assessments would be much WORSE after the two years of masking, remote-learning, and interference in student growth.
The leftist progressive “educators” were pushing CRT non-stop two summers ago. Telling white kids they are oppressors and black kids they are oppressed. It’s not “social justice,” it’s pushing division, based on the color of your skin.
Now they are pushing the hyper-sexualization of minors!
The Maine “teacher” of the year, Kelsey Stoyanova, plagiarized book lists off the internet. She then pushed her woke list in school with “prizes and incentives.” There were no age restrictions, no conservative titles — just books based on transgender, LGBTQ, hardcore kiddie pornography, and more.
No one is asking to “ban books.” We are simply asking for age-appropriate selections and parental consent. We have had success removing the book, “It’s Perfectly Normal” and providing parental choice. But there are hundreds more books that have no place on the shelves at school libraries.
You and I understand, some books are simply not appropriate to provide minors inside a school.
Any of these books in which a middle aged man couldn’t sit down and read from at an elementary, or middle school playground, or classroom — should not be available to these young, impressionable students.
Leave their innocence to them and their parents!
Leftists have the right to indoctrinate their own kids on their own time, on their own dime. But no teacher has the right to indoctrinate other parents’ kids, with the property tax dollars of hardworking Maine moms and dads.
These books are not going to “save a child’s life.” When children face the horrors of pedophilia, rape, or incest, they are not going to “feel better” by reading one of these books in a school library. They need professional help — for which teachers, administrators, or school guidance counselors are not usually qualified.
It has nothing to do with “marginalized people.” No one is looking to oppress children who naturally decide they want to be gay, bi, trans, a furry, whatever. But, this “trend” has been pushed by the heavily funded leftist progressive, Democrat party. The trend is increasing, while the average age is decreasing.
Here is the testimony of an 11-year-old middle school student in RSU 22:
“My experience at school this year has been awful for many reasons.
I have been made to feel extremely pressured about all the LGBTQ+ things being pushed at my school.
I did not see myself, as a straight, conservative student, represented at all in the Civil Rights Team display they put on in December.
Signs around my school telling me I don’t have to use my assigned gender when I can make my own up, pressuring kids that are 11, to label themselves. I have been harassed and verbally attacked this year.
I am tired of having to defend myself constantly to others. Kids should not be pressured to figure out their sexual orientation until they are older and have a chance to experience life and grow up.
I am scared and anxious all the time at what is going to happen next with the constant push of the sexual orientation comments. I feel like I have depression and lots of anxiety because of what is happening at school.”
This is a culture war and those not willing to understand it will be impacted.
We are fighting against tens of millions of dollars in Maine alone from LGBTQ groups and their allies looking to indoctrinate the students. These groups have infiltrated school boards, the MDOE, the teacher’s unions, and other special-interest groups looking to take your taxes to fund Critical Pedagogy.
Maine teachers are now saying the quiet parts out loud now with woke teacher training.
No one I know is “embracing hate.” It’s in fact, the complete opposite. If you wish to mutilate your own body as an adult, feel free. You live your best life, I’ll live mine. but when you try to push your ideology on me, or minors, with my tax dollars — that’s when we have an issue.
Bullying achieves division. Comply, or be mentally, or physically beaten until you do.
Another 11-year-old middle school student from RSU 22:
“…There is zero discipline going on in the school and the kids that act out get away with anything they want, most of the teachers will threaten to send them to the principal’s office, but then they never end up getting sent to the office, so of course they continue to act out.
Free for all, basically!
A regular straight white, or black child doesn’t feel important because the only thing that they push is LGBTQ…
The gist of what I get is that school is somewhat a joke right now and no control…”
You can no more pick your race, than your gender, than your parents. God doesn’t make mistakes in you. You make mistakes in spite of God.
Florida’s HB1557, “An act relating to parental rights in education” is a step in the right direction, from America’s Governor, Ron DeSantis. Too bad Maine is currently controlled by Social Justice Snowflakes. In my opinion, it should be K-8th grade.
By the way, nowhere in the legislation does it require teachers “don’t say gay.”
This process of division and the “dummification” of the next generation is a coordinated, well-funded attack on conservative morals and family values at the age of innocence.
There are the winnable, emotional voter issues for Maine First Patriots, from speaking to the key leaders in Loudoun County, Virginia:
- The elimination of morals and family values in the classroom.
- Lack of parental choice in schools, the lack of transparency.
- Failing at teaching the very basics of education.
We are in need of major changes in June and November. These are all skirmish battles…the war is fought with your vote. Vote for change — or settle in for more of the same.
