The Third World invasion of Maine was entirely predictable, given the open-borders policies of the Biden administration, coupled with the magnet effect of the freebies for foreigners that Maine has become famous for across the Western Hemisphere, culminating in Janet Mills’ executive-branch alien resettlement agency. With a new sheriff in the DC swamp, Gov. Millstone’s plan to invite another 75,000 non-citizens to settle in Maine at taxpayer expense over the next few years is looking less and less viable every day.
To begin with, her so-called “Office of New Americans” is mired in scandal. In any event, Team Trump secured America’s wide-open borders within weeks of inauguration day, shutting off the flow of “new Mainers” across our northern and southern borders. As she enters her last year as Governor, Mills can say goodbye to her Foreigners First fantasy of a taxpayer-subsidized pool of cheap labor and new Democrat voters.
Hallelujah!
The other good news is that terminally woke Democrats in the Maine Legislature are busy committing political suicide. They have introduced two radical pieces of legislation — LD 1259 and LD 1971 — that would handcuff and blindfold Maine’s law enforcement agencies when they encounter illegal aliens. These bills, if enacted, would make the entire state of Maine an insurrectionist sanctuary state, much akin to the Confederate slave states that seceded from the Union a century and a half ago.
Our team at Maine First Project is looking forward to the roll-call votes on these bills, which will provide campaign ammunition for any conservative legislative candidate who challenges an insurrectionist incumbent in next year’s midterm elections.
Fortunately, there is also a very good immigration bill pending, sponsored by Rep. Mike Soboleski: LD 1656, An Act to Facilitate Compliance with Federal Immigration Law by State and Local Government Entities. It would impose a $500 daily fine on any state or local jurisdiction that obstructs the enforcement of federal immigration law.
Soboleski’s bill has zero chance of passage in either the House or the Senate, but that’s not the point.
The point is to get every incumbent on record with a “Yay” or a “Nay” on LD 1656. It’s then up to you and me to insist that conservative challengers make these votes a central theme of their campaigns next year.
Here’s my testimony on LD 1656.
The work session is scheduled for 2 pm today (Wednesday, June 4th) in the Judiciary Committee. The committee will debate and vote on the bill. You can watch it live HERE.
Thanks for all you do every day to restore Maine to The Way Life Should Be.
And now, let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
