Had a good time this morning on talk radio discussing how Maine is coping with the so-called “asylum seekers” who have overwhelmed Portland’s homeless shelters.
Key statistic that every advocate for open borders must address:
Data from the US Department of Justice indicate that out of every 100 aliens who claimed a credible fear of persecution between 2008 and 2019, only 14 were granted asylum. That means that upwards of 80% of these “new Mainers” will become immediately deportable once their asylum applications are adjudicated. But that will take several years. Does anyone seriously believe that any of these people are going to self-deport at that point?
Of course not! They are not going to give up free healthcare and education.
Once they step off the bus in Portland, they are here to stay.
