Am I missing something here?
Do GOP legislative leaders really expect to ride a red wave to victory in November without tackling any controversial issues?
Without so much as a bare-bones agenda?
Apparently so.
That’s my conclusion after listening to the Senate Republicans’ “Maine Comeback 2022” campaign launch at the Senator Inn in Augusta last week. The event was long on lofty rhetoric but short on substance and specifics.
It’s almost as if GOP leaders think voters will give them a majority just because they aren’t Democrats: “Vote for us, we’re not like the other team!”
The R team fired off an email blast touting the media coverage of their launch, but I didn’t read or hear anything in those reports that might excite voters about the prospect of voting Republicans into office.
But again, perhaps I missed something. Please help me out if I did.
Here’s what struck me about what was said…and not said.
I didn’t hear a word about Maine’s failing and dysfunctional K-12 public schools — or the staggering cost to Maine taxpayers.
And I didn’t hear a word of support for the hundreds of courageous parents across the state who are speaking out against Marxist ideology, filthy face diapers, and kiddie porn in the classroom.
I didn’t hear any mention of Jackboot Janet’s lethal lockdown that’s killed more Mainers than the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus. Her executive orders have destroyed the livelihoods of untold numbers of Maine people, but I didn’t hear any advocacy for reining in the Governor’s emergency powers.
Did any of these GOP leaders or candidates have anything to say about the most recent surge of unvetted, illegal immigrants being re-settled in Maine at taxpayers’ expense?
At least a thousand of these non-citizen “new Mainers” are being housed on our dime in hotels across York and Cumberland Counties. And thousands more will arrive before Election Day, you can count on it.
What am I missing here?
I would like to hear from you.
If you’re a Republican, as I still am, let me know what you think about “the launch,” and what you think about the GOP candidate(s) in your district.
Are any of them drawing a sharp contrast between themselves and the extreme Leftist agenda of Democrats who have done so much damage to Maine’s culture, economy, and way of life?
Shoot me an email at larrylockman22@gmail.com with your honest opinion.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Hon. Lawrence Lockman

PS
Will Republicans flip the state Senate with their all-too-familiar promises to reduce taxes and regulations?
Will they win a majority without addressing the populist “culture war” issues that so deeply divide Mainers?
Let me know what you think!
