GOP Candidates Must Make Dems Own Medicaid Fraud & Malpractice Scandal

With Labor Day now in the rearview mirror, it’s time to take a look at Maine’s political landscape as the countdown to the November 3rd midterm elections begins.

For openers….

Is it just my imagination, or are most Republican candidates shying away from making the Democrats’ deepening Medicaid scandal the central issue across every legislative district this year?

That’s my impression, based on what I’m hearing from the top to the bottom of the GOP ticket. For instance, a recent mailer from gubernatorial candidate Bobby Charles barely mentioned the issue, focusing instead on cutting taxes, cracking down on crime, and supporting the police.

Excuse me, but that’s not gonna cut it. It sounds to me like a consultant’s advice: Don’t be controversial; you’ll alienate independent voters; we have focus-group data to prove it, and blah, blah, blah.

For GOP candidates who recognize the utter depravity of the Medicaid scandal and the Democrats’ flagrant complicity, consider this:

Steve Robinson’s team of investigative journalists at The Maine Wire has already done the research documenting the rancid cronyism and corruption of the Democrat majority at the Statehouse.

Here’s a recent headline that will fit neatly on a palm card for candidates who want to win:

Here’s another:
All that’s required now is for Republican candidates to pick up the ammo and start firing — rhetorically, of course.

(Heads up: The Maine Wire is a 501(c)3 non-profit that does not endorse candidates.)

One-party rule by far-left Democrats over the past eight years has allowed this scandal to mushroom into a vast criminal enterprise of Third World thievery. Maine taxpayers have been ripped off by foreigners to the tune of tens of millions (likely hundreds of millions) of dollars since Gov. Janet Mills took office.

Only it’s much worse than that.

Many of Maine’s most vulnerable citizens have been horrifically neglected and abused by foreign-born “healthcare providers” who lack medical training, have no allegiance to America, and, in many cases, don’t even speak English.

Make no mistake: every single Democrat incumbent in the Maine Legislature is culpable for these atrocities. One-party rule in the House and Senate for the past eight years has made the majority party and its members responsible for overseeing executive-branch agencies, including the Maine Department of  Health and Human Services (DHHS), the largest bureaucracy in state government, which consumes over 30 percent of the state budget.

DHHS administers Medicaid and is overseen by the Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee, chaired by Rep. Michelle Meyer (D-Eliot) and Sen. Henry Ingwersen (D-Arundel). Meyer has served as the House chair for the past eight years, and Ingwersen for the past two.

Where have Meyer and Ingwersen been while the rip-off artists were billing Medicaid for services not rendered?

Then there’s the Appropriations Committee, the most powerful committee in the Legislature. Not a dime of the state budget is spent without passing through “Approps,” as it’s known at the Statehouse. So it’s fair to ask: Where was the House Chair, Rep. Drew Gattine of Westbrook, when tens of millions of dollars flowed to the Somali Mafia and other bad actors during his six years as chair?

And what about Senator Peggy Rotondo of Lewiston? She was first appointed Senate Chair of Approps way back in 2006. What’s her excuse? Without a doubt, Rotondo is complicit in the abuse of elderly and disabled Mainers by the scores of Somali thieves she has befriended and defended in her hometown of Mogadishu on the Androscoggin.

Simply put, Republican legislative candidates have a target-rich environment in this midterm election contest.

The Rs need to understand that politics ain’t beanbag; it’s combat.

If not now, when?

PS

Help us reach more Mainers with the truth about the horrific abuse of Maine’s most vulnerable citizens by foreign-born fraudsters masquerading  as “healthcare providers.”

Every single Democrat in the Maine legislature is complicit by virtue of their silence over the past eight years.

While the Mogadishu Mafia stuffed its pockets with our tax dollars, the Democrat majority voted to continue increasing Medicaid spending – with zero oversight of the thieving Third World nonprofits whose snouts were buried in the public trough.
